Buffalo Bills: 5 players that may have played their last game with team
Trent Murphy
Another player on the defensive line that may have played his last game with the Buffalo Bills is defensive end Trent Murphy. Unlike the other players on this list, Murphy is actually under contract through the 2020 season.
However, the veteran pass rusher has not been able to produce like the Bills would have hoped when he was signed as a free agent prior to the 2018 season. If the front office elected to release him, he would save the team over $8 million in cap space, according to Spotrac.
These savings could end up being used to re-sign another player at the position, Shaq Lawson, who is a free agent this offseason. While the numbers by Lawson haven’t been that much better, he is younger and looks to be ascending.
Whether the Bills try to trade Murphy, which is unlikely, or release him, it wouldn’t be surprising if this past season was the last year for the defensive end with this franchise.
