Former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Andre Reed shares some wisdom that made him a Hall of Famer with NFL Draft prospect, and expected first round pick, Jerry Jeudy.
The Buffalo Bills are likely going to be drafting a wide receiver in this upcoming NFL Draft and fortunately this draft class is one of the deepest in recent memory. In that group of top wide receivers is former Alabama wide receiver, Jerry Jeudy.
While the Buffalo Bills likely won’t have the chance to draft Jeudy, unless they were to trade up, he did recently get some advice from former Buffalo Bill Andre Reed in an interview with Bleacher Report.
Andre Reed was a key part of the Bills’ Super Bowl runs in the early 1990s and ended up playing 15 seasons for the franchise. He ended his career in 2000 as a member of the Washington Redskins.
While it has been over 20 years since he took the field for the Bills, his presence is still felt throughout the organization. He still holds the record for most receiving yards (13,095) which is nearly 4,000 more yards than second place. He also has the most receptions (941) and receiving touchdowns (86).
One of the highlights of his career came during the “The Comeback” against the Houston Oilers. He was the go-to receiver for Frank Reich and caught three touchdowns in the second half of that game.
Andre Reed was named to seven straight Pro Bowls from 1988 to 1994 and his play earned him a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014. It is certainly interesting to hear Reed talk about the need to reinvent yourself over your career and how a player has to gain the confidence of the players and organization around him.
Whether it ends up being Jeudy, or another wide receiver, the Buffalo Bills hope they will be able to draft a player who can challenge some of Andre Reed’s records by the time their career is over.
