The Buffalo Bills are one of three teams that is discussing a contract with tight end Greg Olsen, according to Adam Schefter.

Even though free agency doesn’t start until next month, the Buffalo Bills got a jump start when they had tight end Greg Olsen in for a visit last week. Since he was cut by the Carolina Panthers the day after the Super Bowl, Olsen could begin looking for a new home immediately.

That search appears to be coming to a close after he met with the Bills, Washington Redskins and Seattle Seahawks. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Olsen is discussing deals with all three teams. He could be using this as leverage to maximize the best deal possible.

The three teams are all logical next steps for the veteran tight ends with a number of former connections in Buffalo with Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane and with his former head coach Ron Rivera in Washington. Meanwhile in Seattle, he will be joining a playoff team with the best quarterback, Russell Wilson, among this group of teams.

The question, and this is likely what the Bills’ front office is asking themselves, is just how much they should offer Olsen. While he has been to the Pro Bowl three times in his career, and was one of the best tight ends in the league at one time, that is not the player teams will be getting.

Olsen has dealt with injuries the past few seasons and for the Bills they would be interested in Olsen to play a secondary role at the position and be more of a mentor for young tight ends like Dawson Knox and Tommy Sweeney.

For any Bills fans that want to hear from Olsen they should tune into the XFL on Sunday as he will be calling the game between the St. Louis BattleHawks and the Houston Roughnecks on FOX at 6 PM EST.
