Michael Schofield

If the Bills lose out on a bidding war with Quinton Spain look for them to target Michael Schofield. Schofield is a year older than Spain but graded out better on Pro Football Focus, despite allowing one more sack than Spain.

The Bills have an up and coming running back in Devin Singletary, so the need to open up holes is there. Schofield most recently paved the way for Austin Ekeler, who was an undrafted free agent in 2017, to have a career year.

Looking at the Bills roster, Schofield would be a day one starter taking over the hole left by Spain if he departs in free agency. In the past two seasons, he has started every game for the Los Angeles Chargers. He also has plenty of experience, both in the playoffs from winning the Super Bowl in 2015 with the Denver Broncos, to being part of an offensive line for two future Hall of Famers in Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers.

Beane will be looking to upgrade any and all positions this offseason and the upgrades should start on the line of scrimmage. Schofield isn’t a flashy signing by any means but protecting Josh Allen and opening holes for Singletary will be high on the list for the Buffalo Bills.
