Mackensie Alexander

As well as Tre’Davious White played last season, shutting down half of the field for opposing quarterbacks, the need is still there for a second cornerback, enter Mackensie Alexander. Alexander is a rangy cornerback who didn’t have great production coming out of college. This resulted in a bit of slip come draft time and the Minnesota Vikings drafted him 54th overall. However while with the Vikings, he never really developed into a top tier cornerback like they had hoped.

Despite being overcome with injuries in 2019, there were definite signs of improvement from 2018, which was his best season yet. The Bills can value him like they did with Kevin Johnson last year, a one year prove it deal. Both circumstances are similar with both players coming off of injury to start free agency.

Alexander can revel with the opportunity to start and succeed there in Buffalo. He would also be signing with a potential playoff team to reset his value if Buffalo gave him a one year deal.

Meanwhile for the Bills, swapping Johnson for Alexander this offseason would benefit them with Alexander being two years younger and a higher ceiling setting up a win-win situation for both parties involved. Even if the Bills sign a cornerback in Free Agency look for them to also add a player through the draft as well.
