The former Carolina Panthers’ tight end kicked off his free agent visits by traveling to meet with the Buffalo Bills on Wednesday, according to a report.

Only two days after being released by the Carolina Panthers, tight end Greg Olsen made a visit to the Buffalo Bills, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Unfortunately for Bills’ fans hoping for a quick decision from Olsen that doesn’t appear to be the case.

According to Pelissero, Olsen is going to take his time and his trip to Buffalo, along with planned visits with the Washington Redskins and Seattle Seahawks, will be for information gathering. The veteran tight end will do his due diligence before deciding his next NFL team.

If Olsen does decide to join the Bills, there will be plenty of familiar faces throughout the organization. It starts at the top with general manager Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott, who spent time with him in Carolina. The Bills also have quarterback coach Ken Dorsey, who held the same position with the Panthers.

However, the connections go back even further than his time with the Panthers. Olsen was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft and spent the first four years of his career there. The first three years of his career his tight end coach was Rob Boras, who will be entering his fourth year in the same position for the Buffalo Bills.

While it would be hard to expect the Bills to get Pro Bowl production out of Greg Olsen at this point in his career, he could be a valuable addition to this offense. The biggest concern is certainly if Olsen can stay healthy, as he has not played a full 16 game season since 2016, but when he is on the field he is a sure handed pass catcher that can move the chains.

Next. Free agent signings Bills could make that would be a surprise. dark

This would be a welcome addition for quarterback Josh Allen and this offense. It will be interesting to see if the connections throughout Greg Olsen’s career is enough for him to join the Buffalo Bills this offseason.
