The Buffalo Bills could be looking to add a new running back to this offense and there are some interesting options in free agency this offseason.

The running back position has some uncertainty for the Buffalo Bills, not because of Devin Singletary who had an excellent rookie season, but rather what they do to back him up.

Their primary back up this past season was Frank Gore, who played well and was an excellent mentor for Singletary. However, he was playing on a one-year deal and is a free agent with three potential paths. At 36 years of age, he could elect to retire, sign with another team or even come back to Buffalo for one more year.

It gets a little more complicated if he elects to not return to the Bills in 2020 as the front office will need to find a solid replacement to provide depth at the position. This is not as easy as it sounds because the Buffalo Bills would need to find a back willing to play a complementary role behind Singletary.

There are a number of top running backs in free agency this year like Derrick Henry, Melvin Gordon and even Kareem Hunt. It is hard to imagine that the Bills would consider any of these backs because they would likely take snaps away from Singletary and command a substantial salary.

However, the Bills have a number of running backs in that next tier to pair with Singletary and these are five running backs that make sense.
