Everson Griffen
The Minnesota Viking defensive end is only a free agent thanks to hitting performance benchmarks that voided his final three years of his contract. However, the Bills may be a tough sell as he has made it a point to say he wants to stay in Minnesota.
However, the Vikings are in a tough salary cap situation and if they aren’t able to free up cap space, they may not have enough to offer Griffen in a contract.
Even though Griffen is 32 years old, he is playing a high level with eight or more sacks in five out of the last six seasons. He has been named to the Pro Bowl four times in the past five years as well.
Unlike Ngakoue, Griffen would not be a long-term answer at the defensive end position. He would likely be a stop gap and the hope would be to get two, maybe three, productive seasons. However, he could be a good veteran presence in the Buffalo Bills’ locker room for a relatively young defense.
