Kurt Coleman

This player may not seem like a major need but what Kurt Coleman brings to this defense is invaluable. He is a veteran safety that has the ability to play both safety positions and would likely be the first option to step into the lineup if the need arises.

In addition to the versatility, Coleman has experience and knows this defense very well. Coleman played for Sean McDermott when they were both in Carolina in 2015 and 2016. He also played for McDermott when they were together in Philadelphia during the 2010 season.

This past season Coleman didn’t see much playing time due to the fact that Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer stayed healthy. However, he did appear in 14 games and had three solo tackles on the year.

At 31 years of age, Coleman is on the tail end of his career but having a starting caliber safety, who knows this defense so well, provides a backup plan that would pay major dividends if the need were ever to arise.
