5. Linebacker

The Buffalo Bills have two excellent linebackers with Tremaine Edmunds and Matt Milano but are losing Lorenzo Alexander, who announced his retirement after the season. The good news is that the replacement for Alexander could already be on the roster.

The player that comes to mind immediately would be Vosean Joseph, who was a fifth round pick last year by the Bills. Joseph spent the season on injured reserve but could be a big part of the Bills’ plan in 2020.

The reason the linebacker position isn’t necessarily a top priority is because of the presence of Joseph but also because the defense spends a great deal of time in nickel. This means that the third linebacker isn’t as critical to this defense. It would not be surprising to see the Bills address this in free agency or even with a mid-round draft pick to compete with Joseph for the job.
