Taking the Next Step

Fast forward to today. The Buffalo Bills have completed their most successful season in more than two decades, and, as a result, the bar has been raised.

Sean McDermott and company have recently amplified the newest mantras of “Play Fearless” and have upgraded their ambitions to becoming “Championship Caliber”.

On paper, this messaging feels like the natural next step in the progression of a young football team. Perennial powerhouses such as the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers have deeply engrained cultures that would surely settle for no less than such heightened expectations. The fact of the matter is that the organization has some work to do to ascend to the upper echelon.

Despite their impressive 10-6 record, the team fails to be mentioned as a legitimate contender this year. They have registered a few impressive wins to hang their hat on, but have come up short against the likes of the Patriots when it matters the most. The time is now to begin changing this narrative.

With this in mind, I have the following three simple requests from Bills brass in order to move the needle to get to this desirable next level – starting this Saturday.
