The Buffalo Bills will be a playoff team after clinching a spot with their win over the Steelers. Tre’Davious White stood out as their best player in that win, but how good is he?

On the biggest stage of the weekend, the Buffalo Bills found a way to win a one-score game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 17-10 win clinched a playoff berth for them but it may not have been possible had it not been for cornerback Tre’Davious White.

It was a back-and-forth defensive battle and the Steelers had found a way to take the lead 10-7. They might have been able to put the game out of reach — considering the struggles Buffalo’s offense was having — had it not been for White.

He already had an interception from earlier in the game when he took away a deep pass intended for James Washington but wasn’t done impacting the game.

More from Buffalo Bills News

Down by three with the Steelers making their way into Buffalo territory, White stepped in front of a pass intended for Dionte Johnson and picked it off.

White then raced back 49-yards to put the Bills in scoring position. He nearly took it to the house but was still able to put them in field goal range.

In all, White had four tackles and the two interceptions which now give him 57 tackles (four for a loss), 17 pass defenses, six interceptions, two forced fumbles, and a sack on the season.

Buffalo has been one of the best defenses in the NFL and White is leading the way for this unit. He’s now tied for first in the NFL with six interceptions and it’s hard to argue there’s been a more impactful player on this team.

With Cris Collinsworth touting T.J. Watt as a potential NFL Defensive Player of the Year candidate, it was White who stood out in this game and made the plays necessary to get them a win.

Pittsburgh now is in danger of missing the playoffs whereas Buffalo is going to be in the postseason. Had they lost this game, they would be the team needing to pull out another win.

With plenty on the line, it was White that took his game to the next level. And for that reason, his name needs to be mentioned when discussing the best defenders in the NFL in 2019.
