Buffalo Bills: Dawson Knox has greatness in him

Cole Beasley has had some great teammates in his career and he believes Buffalo Bills rookie tight end Dawson Knox has that in him as well

The stat line wasn’t too impressive for Buffalo Bills rookie tight end Dawson Knox in Week 14. Against the Baltimore Ravens, he had just one reception for 37 yards on four targets.

One of those missed targets was a critical third-down throw that would have given the Bills a shot to move into Baltimore territory and chip into their lead. That’s when a veteran on the roster came over and gave Knox some encouragement.

Cole Beasley, who caught a touchdown and two-point conversion in the game, told Knox that everyone drops the ball. It happens. But the great players don’t let that define them.

"“I told him (when) he had a drop early, ‘That’s all right. Don’t worry about it,’” Beasley said after the game on Sunday. “I said, ‘The great ones that stick around are the ones that come back strong and make a big play later, and he did that. He’s done that every time.” — Beasley said via Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com"

And that’s exactly what Knox did when he got another chance.

Later in this same game, quarterback Josh Allen looked for Knox late in the game with the team trailing 24-9 and Knox came up big. Not only did he haul in a deep pass for 37-yards, but he did so with just one hand.

That drive ended up leading to the Beasley score and two-point conversion and the slot receiver says it was all possible due to the big play from the rookie.

Knox was selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft after playing for Ole Miss. A star-studded offense that featured D.K. Metcalf and A.J. Brown, Knox wasn’t utilized often during his time there.

So far in Buffalo, it looks as though they underutilized him. There’s still room to grow but he looks as though he could be the real deal. And according to Beasley, he could be a great one.
