Establish the Run
Last week against the Giants, one of the keys to the game was attacking the Giants vertically through the pass game. They did a decent job of this with four passes going for over 15 yards, including a 51-yard completion by Cole Beasley.
However, this week the coaching staff should get a little more conservative and focus on establishing the run, even if they are without rookie Devin Singletary. The Bengals are one of the worst in the NFL stopping the run, giving up 331 rushing yards through the first two games. They also have allowed three rushing touchdowns in that span.
Meanwhile, the Bills have great veteran depth at the position and this could be an opportunity to showcase Frank Gore but also T.J. Yeldon, who hasn’t gotten a touch through the first two games. If the Bills are able to grind it out on the ground, it will shorten the game but more importantly keep the Bengals offense on the sidelines and give the Bills’ defense plenty of rest.
On paper, this is a game the Buffalo Bills should win but the Bengals do have good players on their offense that can quickly change the outlook for this game. The Bills will need to focus on these four key points if they hope to remain undefeated.
