The Buffalo Bills are likely going to be without Devin Singletary in Week 3 and this makes running back T.J. Yeldon a great candidate to have a big performance.

The running back position for the Buffalo Bills is one of the deepest position groups on the roster. That depth will likely be tested against the Cincinnati Bengals as Devin Singletary is dealing with a hamstring injury. While he hasn’t been ruled out, he did miss practice on Wednesday and it seems unlikely that he will play on Sunday.

If Singletary is out in Week 3, based on the opponent and the potential game script, T.J. Yeldon makes sense as a sleeper this week, as a player who is likely available but can put up points.

While Frank Gore will be the team’s lead back, the coaching staff will likely try to limit the touches of the 36 year old, especially considering he had 19 carries against the New York Giants.

Meanwhile, Yeldon is a back that can not only help Gore shouldered some of the carries but is an excellent pass catcher out of the backfield. He has had over 50 receptions in two of his four years in the league and is averaging 3.35 receptions per game for his career.

The game script for this game also works in Yeldon’s favor as a potential sleeper. This is a game that the Bills should win and one that they could get up big early. If this is the case, the coaching staff may try to focus on ball control and running the clock which would mean an increase in touches for Yeldon.

In addition, the Bengals have struggled against the run this season. They are currently giving up the third most yards on the ground, averaging 165.5 yards against per game. In addition to the yards on the ground, the Bengals have allowed 10 receptions to running backs in the first two games.

While the Buffalo Bills will miss Devin Singletary, who has looked good the first two games, this presents an opportunity for T.J. Yeldon to have a more prominent role in this offense. The fact they are facing a Bengals defense that has struggled to slow down the opposing running backs, makes Yeldon a sneaky pick that can pay huge dividends in Week 3.
