The Buffalo Bills had their first practice on Wednesday in preparation of their Week 2 match up against the New York Giants.
The Buffalo Bills were back on the practice field for the first time following their exciting win over the New York Jets. They are now beginning preparation as they face the other team that calls MetLife Stadium home, the New York Giants.
The good news is that the Buffalo Bills came out of Week 1 fairly healthy with the biggest injury being to nickelback Taron Johnson. The second year cornerback left the Jets game with a hamstring injury and he missed practice on Wednesday. If Johnson is not able to play, expect Sirian Neal to see increased playing time at nickel.
In addition to Johnson, Andre Roberts missed practice again on Wednesday. The Pro Bowl punt returner missed practice all last week and doesn’t appear close to returning.
The third player to miss practice on Wednesday without a rest designation was defensive tackle Jordan Phillips. The reserve tackle was out with an illness and likely will be available for Sunday’s game.
The other players that did not practice on Wednesday were rest days for the veterans. This group included linebacker Lorenzo Alexander, wide receiver John Brown and offensive tackle Ty Nsehke.
The Buffalo Bills had one player who was limited in practice and that was tight end Tyler Kroft. The free agent signing has been out due to a broken foot suffered during OTAs. He was limited all last week but it would be safe to assume he is close to returning since the Bills did not put him on the phyiscally unable to perform (PUP) list to start the season. If he was placed on that list, he would have been out at least six weeks.
The Buffalo Bills will have two more practices this week before Sunday’s game with the New York Giants.
