After the Buffalo Bills cut their roster down to 53 players, the last significant step in roster construction was adding players to their practice squad. These are the players that the team added on Sunday.

The Buffalo Bills finalized their 53-man roster yesterday and there wasn’t many surprises outside of course of the release of running back LeSean McCoy. The depth the team has constructed this offseason meant that they were going to have to cut some good players who have potential.

The good news is that they were able to bring back some to the organization by adding them to the practice squad.

The Bills announced they agreed to deals with these seven players on Sunday:

  • Eddie Yarbrough
  • Christian Wade
  • Duke Williams
  • Cam Lewis
  • Nate Becker
  • Kyle Peko
  • Erik Magnuson

All seven players the Bills added to their practice squad to date was part of the organization at some point this preseason. Defensive end Eddie Yarbrough has the most experience, after playing for the Buffalo Bills the last two years, and he would likely be the first player up. He has played in 31 out of the Bills last 32 games and has 44 total tackles and one sack.

Another name fans will recognize right away is wide receiver Duke Williams. The former CFL star was on the roster bubble and many believed he should have the team outright. He has great size, which is something lacking for this position group, and started to play well in preseason with touchdown receptions in back to back games against the Carolina Panthers and Detroit Lions.

While most NFL teams are able to have 10 players on their practice squad, the Bills will have 11 thanks to Christian Wade being apart of the NFL International Player Program. The electric running back had a 65-yard run in his first NFL game for a touchdown and then a reception against the Carolina Panthers that went for over 40 yards.

However, by the Bills using this practice squad exemption it means they will not be able to call Wade up to the main roster at any point this season.

Since they used the exemption, the Buffalo Bills still have four open spots on their practice squad that they will fill over the next few days.
