The Buffalo Bills went undefeated in the preseason and did so with an exciting 27-23 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.
The last preseason game is usually one that fans don’t circle on the calendar but the Buffalo Bills certainly made it exciting with a 27-23 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. In a game where the team held out their starters, it was the backup players who kept fighting over the course of the game and took the lead for the first time with only 13 seconds left in the game.
The Buffalo Bills struggled in the early part of the game and it was the Vikings that took control early with a 15-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Slother to Ameer Abdullah. The Bills responded with a field goal on their next drive to cut the Vikings lead to 7-3.
However, it was almost all Vikings after that point as they went on to outscore the Bills 16-3 and had built a 23-6 lead halfway through the fourth quarter. It was all Buffalo Bills from that point on as they scored three touchdowns in just over the final four minutes of the fourth quarter.
The scoring started with Tyree Jackson rushing in for a touchdown from six yards out. The former University of Buffalo quarterback played the entire game for the Bills, throwing for 175 yards with one touchdown, while adding another 77 yards rushing with the one touchdown just mentioned.
The play of the game though came on the next drive after the Bills defense stepped up and forced a three and out. Marcus Murphy was back to return the punt from the Vikings and ended up taking it 80 yards for a touchdown to cut the Vikings lead down to three at 23-20.
The Bills defense once again came up with a three and out to set the offense up for a game-winning drive. Jackson led the Bills down the field and with under 20 seconds found David Sills crossing through the middle of the end zone and delivered a strike to secure the win.
The focus for the Buffalo Bills now turns to the regular season as they have to cut the roster down to 53 players by Saturday at 4 PM. They will then begin preparation for their Week 1 matchup against the New York Jets.
