The Buffalo Bills made a roster move earlier this week by releasing punter Cory Carter. The assumption would be that Corey Bojorquez won the starting punting job since he is the last punter on the roster.
However, this would be a bad assumption to make considering Bojorquez has had a shaky preseason to say the least. If he doesn’t play well against the Vikings, the front office will likely be looking over the waiver wire and at free agents as possible replacements.
Bojorquez was claimed on waivers by the Bills last September to replace Colton Schmidt as the team’s starting punter. He played eight games for them, averaging 45.1 yards per punt, before being placed on injured reserve.
This preseason, the numbers have been similar as he has averaged 45.4 yards per punt on nine punts. The pressure will be on Bojorquez Thursday night and he will need to give the Buffalo Bills a reason to not consider any free agent punters before the start of the regular season.
