The NFL future for Buffalo Bills’ wide receiver David Sills V has yet to be determined and this is not necessarily a bad thing.

After a marvelous 2019 season at West Virginia University, Buffalo Bills wide receiver David Sills V finds himself in an uncomfortable position as has yet to show flashes of his former self at the professional level.

As the calendar inches closer to the start of the NFL regular season, fringe and bubble players are starting to get nervous and Sills may be one of those players. Now being on the outside looking in when it comes the reality of getting regular-season action, Sills is likely not to see much, if any at all, as he has yet to get a catch in the preseason. To make matters worse, he even dropped a pass from Tyree Jackson last week against the Carolina Panthers. This now leaves the Bills front office with a dilemma: Do they release the former Mountaineer or keep him.

There is no doubt that Sills has an impressive college resume as he recorded 132 receptions for 2,097 receiving yards but he has just not been a head-turner this training camp for the Bills. He also has plenty of competition at the receiver position with the carousel of experienced wide receivers trying to prolong their careers in Buffalo this season.

Currently, the way the receiver battle has played out is Cole Beasly and John Brown are the clear-cut number ones for the Bills. After these two, Zay Jones is the third option followed by Robert Foster, Andre Roberts, Isaiah McKenzie and Duke Williams. Sills is now faced with an uphill battle with Cam Phillips, Nick Easly to secure a practice roster spot for the 2019/20 season.

This, could not necessarily be a bad thing for the undrafted free agent as there would not be any expectations tied to him. Being on the practice roster would allow him to quietly get better, adjust to the NFL life without being under a microscope and perfect his routes within the Buffalo Bills offense.
