Ed Oliver

Based on the stat sheet, some fans would wonder if Ed Oliver even got on the field, considering he had no tackles or sacks. However, for fans that had a chance to watch the game knows the type of impact the first round pick had against the Panthers.

Oliver played 14 snaps in the second preseason game, which was 18% of the team’s total defensive snaps. He once again showed burst and quickness that fans have come to expect as a staple of his game.

The one play that stood out the most was one where he showed that quickness but had the awareness to realize he wasn’t going to get to the quarterback and while being double teamed, got his hand up and broke up the pass.

This is something that is hard for some younger players who just focus on getting to the pocket and not having the awareness to stop and impact the play in other ways.
