The Buffalo Bills’ starting center Mitch Morse continues heading in the right direction as he tries to return from concussion.

The Buffalo Bills took the practice field on Tuesday in Spartanburg, SC joining the Carolina Panthers for the first of two joint practices. The good news for the Bills is that their starting center, Mitch Morse, was able to join them on the field for at least part of the practice.

Morse suffered a concussion in one of the first practices at St. John Fisher College and has missed practice and the team’s first preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts. However, on Tuesday he was in pads and was able to take part in at least some of the practice, according to Matt Parrino.

It is delicate balance that the Bills and Morse must play as the former Kansas City Chief is coming back from his fourth documented concussion in his NFL career. The team wants to be cautious with their top free agent signing and make sure he is fully healed from this injury. They also have the luxury of this being during training camp and before the regular season.

However, the coaching staff would love to get Morse back into the lineup as he is a key part of an overhauled offensive line. The team has only one starter returning from last year, left tackle Dion Dawkins, and with this many new pieces along the line, practice time is important. The more time the starting five can play together will help them during the regular season.

Even though Morse is progressing, he is still not fully cleared from the concussion protocol. This means it is unlikely that he will play on Friday night against the Carolina Panthers. The Buffalo Bills will likely go with Jon Feliciano as their starting center but hopefully Morse will be available for some snaps in Week 3 against the Detroit Lions.
