Matt Barkley solidifies the QB position
One of the other questions entering the season was if the quarterback position as a whole had enough experience. Entering 2019, the Bills QBs combined for only 18 career starts with Josh Allen accounting for 11 of those.
The fact that Allen is a mobile quarterback and takes more hits than most, the team needed to find a solid backup QB in case the need arises. They may have done that with Matt Barkley.
It wasn’t until Barkley entered the game that the offense really started clicking, as he led them on touchdown drives in two of his three first drives. He finished the game 9 of 14 for 127 yards and one touchdown.
Barkley’s play against the Colts, should continue to build the coaching staff’s confidence in the position if the need ever arose for him to enter the game.
