The Buffalo Bills got their first win, although preseason, of the season with a 24-16 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. These are the top takeaways from that game.

The Buffalo Bills opened their preseason at New Era Field against the Indianapolis Colts in a game that they controlled early, building a 17-3 lead, but saw shrink in the fourth quarter with the Colts scoring 10 straight points.

However, thanks to a 65-yard touchdown run by Christian Wade the Bills were able to close the game out for a win. Preseason games though aren’t all about wins and losses but rather a time to evaluate their team in live action.

To this point in the summer, coaching staffs really only get to see their team compete against one another during practice. These preseason games now gives the coaching staff film to see how players look during a game and help them determine the best 53 players to keep on this roster for the upcoming season. On Thursday night against the Indianapolis Colts, some players rose to the occasion.

These are the top takeaways from the first preseason game for the Buffalo Bills.
