Time to change the channel at the Bryk House with the start of football…

Nurse-wife controls the living room remote controls in ” A Bryk House”.  Not a shabby set up for the Lifetime and Hallmark channel level of programming. It can be Christmas all year if chosen. She also does a fine job keeping up with the Kardashians. I know she has the remote programmed to search out any major drama going on with the multiple “Little People” reality shows.

I upgraded the 50 inch Plasma TV last year with a 65 Inch modern television.  I got a nice sound bar for it as these newer paper thin TV speakers just do not cut it.  Hooking up the old surround sound seemed just pre-historic.  The soundbar sounded prodigious.  It was missing one thing.  A powerful sub-woofer keeping us honest securing all home wall-hangings with anchors and multiple connections.

Yesterday evening I told Nurse-wife that I would not be the only guy I know to deny watching the 90210 reboot . Likely, I would be firm scrambling to find a way to not come clean and then when the dogs bark at the mail-lady, I would realize what I had done. Denying 90210 three times. So ashamed.  Not sure if I am ashamed of the denial or of watching the reunion.

I went in to this very leary knowing of Luke Perry’s death earlier this year.  I was hoping that Kelly Kapowski as I referenced her in her old Saved-By-The-Bell  character, actress Tiffani Amber Thiessen , would make an appearance. An Amber Alert could have announced her arrival. After all she played a key role for 136 episodes. I would learn she is unavailable to join the show in her old role as Valerie Malone,  because she is busy filming season three of her Netflix series, Katie and Alexa.

The void of Kelly Kaposwki most likely will figure in to one of the significant reasons of my pure denial of watching the 90210 reunion.  I just wish they would have left the Peach Pit a nightclub. That went over well. Maybe Buffalo’s own Goo Goo Dolls can make a cameo performance at one of Steve’s parties like they did in 1996.  I know way too much about all of this to be successful at my three denials.  I digress…

The Buffalo Bills commenced real pre-season football this week.  So Nurse-wife will-experience anxiety.  The  fear of losing power.  It will be handled properly to avoid all out shock.  Preseason is good getting the living room slowly adjusted to football dominance.  I mean we have a TV in my office, the polish living room garage, the spare bedroom, the master bedroom and two in the basement.  I offered to put one in the shed and am ever so slightly bruised for said comment.  That said, for some reason Fire Sticks, cable boxes, Blue-Ray players or surround sound do not draw crowds quite like the living room does. Confusing. Sure.

The Bills look to improve significantly with a more experienced Josh Allen and many key acquisitions aiding the line, receiving options, running back position as well as tight end.  One area with a desperate demand for improvement would be cashing in on red zone opportunities. Of 37 trips inside the opponents’ 20-yard line last season, Buffalo scored 22 touchdowns with 10 field goals. That is under 60 percent touchdowns being achieved .  That kind of production does not land quarterbacks or offensive players on Pro Bowl rosters.  That production really reduces playoff hopes.

Injuries continue to have an impact in preparation for the season.  The Buffalo Bills have already lost offensive tackle LaAdrian Waddle for the season with a torn right quadriceps. Not good. He had six season of NFL experience he was bringing to the Bills offensive line.

The Bills last season found a fifth round draft pick more important than A.J. McCarron.  That left Nathan Peterman as the starter and the rookie Josh Allen as the backup.  That is not setting a team up for success as shielding the rookie quarterback from playing in his rookie season.

Well it is the same GM, Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator as last season making the decisions.  That is why I find it interesting that Frank Gore started the first pre-season game over LeSean McCoy.  Gore is 36 and has miles of tape available, so buying the coaches reactions that they want to see what Gore can do is, is a bit of a reach for me.

I do find it hard to picture the Bills keeping two backs in the twilight years of their careers both trying to defy odds and bang out major yards.  The rookie Devin Singletary looked great in his first game against the Colts, who they drafted high. T.J. Yeldon can do some things very well and is younger than McCoy and Gore . The Bills went very thin at QB last year infiltrating the regular season with an unproven rookie and a second year QB who already proved he could not play in the league.

We now return you to BH90210 chit chat.  I guess Brandon, was a square on the show in the 90’s, but off the show rolled like Chad Kelly.  Just Saying……..
