Defensive Line

As mentioned on the previous slide, Ed Oliver did not start training camp alongside Star Lotulelei, but rather that was Jordan Phillips, according to Jay Skurski. Meanwhile, Oliver was with the second team, playing next to Harrison Phillips.

Jordan Phillips is an interesting player as he joined the Buffalo Bills mid-season last year after being released by the Miami Dolphins. If Phillips can play up to his potential, this position could be one of the deepest on the team and the coaching staff could be rotating all four regularly over the course of a game.

Meanwhile, at defensive end Trent Murphy started with the first team over Shaq Lawson. Murphy was one of the team’s big free agent signings a year ago but injuries really impacted his season last year. Meanwhile, Lawson is entering the final year of his contract and is hoping to have a breakout season to warrant a big deal.

If Murphy can stay healthy, which is a big if, Lawson may have trouble breaking into the starting lineup this year.
