Offensive Line
The biggest surprise from the first practice was that Cody Ford, and not Ed Oliver, was the player from the rookie class to get their first shot with the first team. Ford stepped in as the team’s starting right tackle, per Jon Scott’s tweet, in their first 11-on-11 session of training camp. He was joined by Dion Dawkins (LT), Quinton Spain (LG), Mitch Morse (C) and Jon Feliciano (RG).
It is important to note though that Scott mentions that Ty Nsekhe rotated in with Ford during the practice so this may have been a matter of the coaching staff wanting to see both and electing to go with Ford first.
The right tackle battle is one of the most important position battles for the Buffalo Bills and it could impact other positions. If Nsekhe beats out Ford, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the team move Ford inside at right guard to compete for that job.
