Running Back

The fact that Frank Gore passed his physical before practice on Thursday, allowed the coaching staff to have their top four backs on the practice field. There was no surprise that LeSean McCoy remained first and Gore was behind him at two. However, Dan Fetes of 13 Wham tweeted that it was rookie Devin Singletary who was getting the third rep in individual drills.

Veteran TJ Yeldon followed Singletary in the rotation.

This certainly can be interpreted two ways with the first being the coaching staff just wanted to get the rookie more reps being third behind McCoy and Gore. The other way though is that Yeldon, who the team signed in free agency, is on the bubble and unless the team keeps four running backs could be fighting for his job this summer.

This rotation through training camp, and especially during the preseason games, will be worth monitoring.
