Kevin Johnson earns starting CB job
Levi Wallace played very well as a rookie last year opposite Tre White but the front office brought in veterans Kevin Johnson and EJ Gaines to compete for that job. This will be a heated battle and may go back and forth for a bit until the winner is decided.
That winner I believe will be Kevin Johnson. The former Houston Texan is a talented cornerback and when on the field has done a good job. However, the issue for Johnson has been that last part of staying on the field.
The Texans selected Johnson in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft but in his four years in the league he has only played 16 games once, which came during his rookie season. Johnson during his time suffered a broken foot (2016), a sprained MCL (2017) and then a concussion in the first game of 2018 that cost him the rest of the season.
During OTAs, Johnson got good reviews from Sean McDermott and should carry that momentum into training camp and right on to a starting job.
