Can Dawson Knox start as a rookie over Jason Croom?

The question of who starts at tight end this season is anybody’s guess entering training camp. The Buffalo Bills signed free agent Tyler Kroft and used a third round pick on Dawson Knox to compete with Jason Croom. However, Kroft has missed most of the offseason workouts due to a broken foot and this has opened the door for Knox.

In a recent article by Maurice Moton on Bleacher Report, Knox was named the Bills sleeper entering 2019. This would be a huge surprise for a player who didn’t see a lot of work in an Ole Miss offense that had a number of weapons.

According to NFL.com’s Lance Zierlien, he described Knox in his scouting report as:

"Outstanding combination of measurables and traits, but he’s much more moldable clay than game-ready prospect at this point."

If Knox is not ready, the Bills may turn back to Croom, who showed some promise and finished the year with 22 receptions, 259 receiving yards and one touchdown.
