Tight end

TE1: Scott Chandler – 2012

Fantasy points: 91

After bouncing around the league to start his career, Scott Chandler flourished with the Bills. In his first complete season in Buffalo, 2011, he earned the right to be called starter. In his second, he tied Bills single-season records for touchdowns by a tight end with six. In addition, he added 43 receptions for 571 yards.

In terms of yards, Chandler’s 2012 season was the second most of his career, behind 2013 (655). However, it was his, and the Bills’, most complete statistical season for a tight end. Despite catching passes for a slew of subpar quarterbacks, Chandler had a good four and a half stretch in Buffalo, highlighted by his 2012 season–he sits at third all-time in receiving yards by a tight end for the team.

TE2 (bench): Pete Metzelaars – 1993

Fantasy points: 85

Like Scott Chandler, Pete Metzelaars bounced around before finding a home in Buffalo. Unlike, Chandler, Metzelaars was a Bill for ten seasons. During that decade-long stretch, the tight end became a constant for a Bills offense that didn’t typically favor tight ends. He eventually settled in as a reliable, “safety valve” option for Jim Kelly.

Metzelaars saw an uptick in production playing in the K-Gun. His most productive season was in 1993; in the middle of the Super Bowl stretch and his second to last season in Buffalo. For the year, he set the Bills’ record for receptions by a tight end with 68 and finished with 609 yards; the third most by a Bills tight end.
