The Buffalo Bills have signed third-round pick Dawson Knox, marking the end of the signing of their 2019 NFL Draft class.

According to BuffaloBill.com, the team has signed tight end Dawson Knox to a rookie-scale four-year deal. Now, the Buffalo Bills have all of their rookies on contract. With the Ole Miss product signed, there are less than 25 unsigned rookies in the league.

The Bills traded up to pick No. 96 to select Knox. Though he never recorded a touchdown catch in college, he’s an intriguing prospect that brings athleticism to the table. With the recent injury to the incumbent starter and free agent addition Tyler Kroft, Knox was playing with the starters during OTAs and mandatory mini-camp.

In two seasons of play at Ole Miss, Knox tallied 39 receptions for 605 yards. Per Pro Football Focus, 280 of those yards came after the catch. He finished the 2018 season with 13 slot receptions for 258 yards, 15th and eighth in the class respectively, according to PFF.

Knox didn’t run at the combine, but he still performed well; recording a 34.5-inch vertical, 16 225-pound bench-press reps, 7.12-second three-cone-drill, and 4.27-second 20-yard-shuttle. He also checked off all the boxes concerning his frame — he measured in at 6-foot-4, and 254-pounds.

Most have dubbed Knox as an athletic developmental project with high-upside. At Ole Miss, he wasn’t able to perform like he should’ve, acting as the fourth option behind D.K. Metcalf, A.J. Brown, and Demarkus Lodge. A large part of that is due to a limited route tree and insufficient blocking. Nonetheless, NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein gave him a second-round grade, comparing him to Pro Bowler Kyle Rudolph.
