The Buffalo Bills are not done shaping their roster, as they added former AAF tight end Keith Towbridge via the waiver wire.

The Buffalo Bills announced that they were awarded tight end Keith Towbridge off of waivers on Friday. The Tennessee Titans cut Towbridge on Thursday. To make room for the move, the Bills released tight end Mik’Quan Deane.

The 24-year-old Towbridge started his career in Buffalo after going undrafted out of Louisville in 2017. He was placed on injured reserve during his rookie pre-season, then was released. In 2018, he returned early in the season as a member of the practice squad.

After the 2018 season, Towbridge joined the now-defunct Alliance of American Football as a member of their Atlanta Legends. During his time in Atlanta, the tight end caught 17 balls for 196 yards and didn’t score a touchdown. After the AAF folded, the 6-foot-5 tight end signed with the Titans.

The Bills have been busy re-shaping their tight end position during the 2019 off-season. The team released starter Charles Clay in February. Buffa;p then brought in veterans Tyler Kroft, Lee Smith (post-draft), and Jake Fisher. In the draft, Dawson Knox and Tommy Sweeney were added. After, the team signed Nate Becker, De’Ondre Wesley, Deane, and Towbridge –releasing Moral Stephens, Fisher and now Deane in the process.

The Bills’ busy off-season concerning tight ends should make for an exciting training camp battle. Towbridge may be an outsider looking in, though. Considering that Kroft, Knox, and Smith are locks to make the roster, with Sweeney, and Croom likely following, there just isn’t room for another tight end.  He’ll likely be competing against Becker and Wesley for a practice squad invite.
