Buffalo Bills WR John Brown was absent during last week’s OTAs, but not with an injury or contract dispute.

During the last phase of Buffalo Bills OTAs last week, wide receiver John Brown wasn’t present. He wasn’t reported as injured by head coach Sean McDermott, nor did he have a contract dispute, as he signed a three-year, $27 million contract in March. This left many wondering, where is John Brown?

Luckily, that question was answered during the start of mandatory minicamp, as McDermott said Brown was out last week due to the birth of his child. As the head coach stated at Tuesday’s press-conference;

"He just had a baby last week, I know he’s a proud daddy."

For Brown, 2019 appears to be shaping up his way. More important than football and signing a hardy contract, he’s celebrating the birth of his first child.  With that said, congrats, John!

With the reason for his absence now known, Bills fans can rest easy knowing a coveted free agency addition will be back with the team. Brown figures to be a key cog of a much-improved Bills offense in 2019.

A speedster and deep threat by nature, Brown’s ability to stretch the field will pair nicely with Josh Allen‘s strong-arm. He, along with Cole Beasley, will bring a veteran presence to the wide receiver room as well. In five seasons in the NFL, with the Arizona Cardinals and Baltimore Ravens, he’s caught 215 receptions for 3,230 yards and 22 touchdowns.

Now back on the field, Brown can build a rapport with his fellow receivers, coaching staff, and quarterback. Considering his long with-standing relation and success with big-arm quarterbacks, and with a baby now on-board, Brown should have an enjoyable (with a sprinkle of sleepless nights) second half of 2019.
