The Buffalo Bills added a few new receivers this offseason. Yet the team is still looking for one to take command of the group as the top guy.

Remember when the Buffalo Bills entered the season with Kelvin Benjamin as the number one receiver? It seems so long ago.

Just think, it was Benjamin and Nathan Peterman on offense to begin last season. What an ugly sight.

The Bills promptly moved on from both players and Brandon Beane has actually given Josh Allen some competent receivers to throw to. The additions of John Brown and Cole Beasley were wise moves, even if neither stands out as a major signing.

The receiving corps will also feature Robert Foster and Zay Jones. Both showed flashes of success last season later on when the offense began to click and Allen had some reps under his belt.

Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report just put out an article ranking every NFL receiving corps heading into the season. In what may be expected by now, the Bills came in rather low at No. 29 overall.

From the article:

"To the Buffalo Bills’ credit, the organization went out and surrounded quarterback Josh Allen with more talent than he had last year. But it’s all relative. Buffalo entered the offseason with the league’s worst skill positions. They’re no longer the worst, just incrementally better."

This ranking is not a surprise. The Bills signed guys like Brown and Beasley in the hopes that they could be special. It is not an automatic.

Foster and Jones remain relatively unproven and that is true for the rest of the group. One surprise player could be Duke Williams, but he is obviously unproven in the NFL as well.

Next. Things we know this week near the end of May. dark

I like rankings like this because it can show how much progress a position group makes during a season. If the Bills receivers go nuts with Allen throwing them 70-yard bombs every Sunday, they will be ranked much higher and will be steals for fantasy owners.
