The Buffalo Bills made some roster moves this week that include some new faces coming to town along with a familiar face getting a contract extension.

This is the time of year when the bottom of NFL rosters experience a great deal of turnover.

That is true with the Buffalo Bills as well. The team made some moves earlier this week that may not stand out at all to most fans, but could in the future if the players involved do great things.

Nothing major there but churning the bottom of the roster is always a good strategy in the search for the deepest possible roster. It just sucks for those who get cut, but so goes the business.

The bigger news in terms of the roster came in the form of a contract extension.

That is some great guaranteed money for Jerry Hughes, who has been with the team since 2013. He will be 31 years old when the season begins and can serve as one of the key veteran voices on the team. He also had seven sacks last year, so he is certainly no slouch.

Hughes now has 42 sacks in six seasons with the Bills. Add Ed Oliver to an already strong defensive front and the Bills defense should be going in a lot of fantasy drafts this year. I know I will take them if possible.

So that is it for the updates. There haven’t been any major changes this offseason and Derek Anderson retiring is the only slight surprise. It’s not like when Eric Wood and Richie Incognito retired in the same offseason.

Next. Things we know this week near the end of May. dark

Things are calm and structured in Buffalo. Hopefully that leads to wins.
