The Buffalo Bills put a lot of faith in Josh Allen by drafting him in 2018. He will start to feel some pressure in 2019 in his second season.

Josh Allen‘s rookie year with the Buffalo Bills was all about development and learning the ways of the NFL.

His second year with the team will be about picking up victories and not just of the moral variety.

It was clear from the start of last season that the Bills likely weren’t heading back to the playoffs. My evidence? Nathan Peterman was the starting quarterback.

That didn’t last long but his predictable downfall meant Allen had to play earlier than expected. This was good in the long-term but it wasn’t going to result in a winning record. His injury a few weeks later made that even more clear.

Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report recently posted a list of questions for every NFL team heading into OTAs. His question for the Bills has to do with how much progress Allen has made from year one to year two.

This is an obvious question and thanks to the Bills having a successful offseason, does indeed stand out as the biggest one. The defense is set up to be great and the offense has been given upgrades at every position other than quarterback.

The upgrade there must come in-house in the form of Allen taking a big step in year two. We may see a whole different version of the young quarterback now that he won’t be relied upon to carry the load in the running game as well. He also has some experienced players at receiver and a new offensive line.

Now it all comes down to the quarterback taken at No. 7 overall in 2018. If he has a down year, Brandon Beane will have some major decisions to make.
