The Buffalo Bills were reportedly in talks with Ziggy Ansah, according to Brandon Beane. That changed with the news of Ansah signing elsewhere.
The free agency rumors aren’t as active as they were back in March.
That hasn’t stopped the Buffalo Bills front office from continuing to make noise.
Wednesday brought the news that the team was in talks with Ziggy Ansah, who remained a free agent. News then broke that the Seattle Seahawks were the favorites to land Ansah, only for Brandon Beane to go on the radio and say this:
Brandon Beane on @1270TheFan on Z. Ansah: “We’re still in talks with him and his agent. Everything has been very good. All I’ll say about reports [Seattle is emerging as favorite] is I don’t buy into that garbage, especially when I consider where some of the sourcing comes from."

Either Beane was bluffing or he was entirely of the belief that the Seahawks were not the favorites. Then came the news that Seattle had signed Ansah.
Seattle is giving Ziggy Ansah a one-year deal, per source. Ansah scheduled to fly to Seattle on Thursday to sign. But the two sides have reached agreement. https://t.co/jhSmFZF2gT

Given he stays healthy, the addition of Ansah would have been huge for the Bills defense. Alas, he is out west. It is entirely possible he never had any intention of coming to Buffalo in the first place. Trying to find out who to trust with all the rumors is nearly impossible.
We don’t need to get too deep into the info about Ansah since he is not coming to Buffalo. But what this news does show is that the Bills are remaining active in trying to improve the team even after the conclusion of the NFL Draft.
Beane is aggressive in building his team his way and it is great to see him always seeking upgrades. A surplus of talent means competition for starting spots. That is never a bad thing.
With the news of losing out on one free agent, there is always time to gain another.
Former Saints’ TE Benjamin Watson, who had intended to retire, is in New England today visiting with the Patriots, per source. Watson also is considering the Chiefs, Bills and 49ers. His retirement didn’t last long.

Adding Benjamin Watson would be a great veteran addition to the offense. Maybe he is like Cole Beasley and thinks Buffalo is the best fit.
That sure would be a narrative-shifting move.
