Buffalo Bills fans weighed in on Twitter after the selection of Ed Oliver in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The initial reaction was positive.

I’m sure there were at least a few Buffalo Bills fans who had overwhelmingly negative reactions to the selection of Ed Oliver.

But the most visible response was positive. That is always nice during an event where reactions can be polarizing. Just ask New York Giants fans.

The Bills, at least on paper, got a steal in Oliver at No. 9 overall and made everyone involved look smart for not panicking and trading up to grab him.

I decided to post a Twitter poll to see what fans thought of the pick.

There were a few who hated it, as there is with any pick. Yet it is clear from this unscientific poll, and my scanning of social media, that the pick is being well received by Bills fans.

Oliver was in the building today and unlike last year, he is the sole focus of everyone from the fans to the media.

The Bills still have plenty of picks to make but Oliver will be the face of the 2019 class. He now joins both Josh Allen and Tremaine Edmunds as the focal points in the rebuild of the Bills. The failure of any of the three will lead to negative backlash toward Brandon Beane and could eventually cost him his job.

Four three-round draft scenarios for the Bills. dark. Next

But that is the gloomy view of what appears to be three straight great first-round picks by Beane. He didn’t reach for any of the three players and remained patient on Thursday to grab a player who could have easily gone much higher.
