Buffalo Bills: Four three-round draft scenarios for the Bills

A guy can dream, can’t he?

First Round – Pick No. 16
T.J. Hockenson / Tight End / Iowa

TRADE: Buffalo receives No. 16, No. 47, No. 187; Carolina receives No. 9, No. 228

As you read in the previous slide and if you have read anything of mine in the last several weeks, you know I love Hockenson.

It makes so much sense to take him to give the team an all-around tight end, Josh Allen a weapon, the run game some help, and a potential number one target on offense.

This trade allows the Panthers to jump up and get the offensive lineman or defensive end they need to help their team moving forward. Buffalo makes out well with extra picks.

First Round – Pick No. 21
Jonah Williams / Offensive Lineman / Alabama

TRADE: Seattle receives No. 40, No 74, 2020 Third; Buffalo receives No. 29, No. 159

This is me dreaming.

There is a good chance Williams doesn’t fall this far, but if he does, Buffalo needs to make moves to get up and get him. Williams could be a perennial Pro-Bowler at tackle or guard and I would love to have him at either. He appears to be so much like a McDermott guy that I bet they would be best friends until the end of time.

I heard stories of how much Williams studies film and he carries a notebook with him on opponents and if that isn’t Sean McDermott I’m not sure what is. This would be a no-brainer move and I am all for it.

Second Round – Pick No. 35
Hakeem Butler / Wide Receiver / Iowa State

TRADE: Oakland receives No. 47, No. 70, No. 147; Buffalo receives No. 35

I said this is my dream so don’t wake me up. Adding Butler and Hockenson would be so amazing that I would cry. Two mega mismatches on the outside – a potential number one receiver that is 6-foot-5 and a huge tight end that moves like a man much smaller – YES PLEASE!

Fourth Round

TRADE: Tampa Bay receives No. 112, No. 131; Buffalo receives Gerald McCoy

Hear me out kind sir or madam. Buffalo is in need of a internal pass rusher. Tampa Bay needs to shed salary cap and have been shopping McCoy. Buffalo has cap space. Tampa Bay is willing to sell low on McCoy.

While I know he is nearing the end of his prime, McCoy would be a great fit for Buffalo from an on the field perspective and in the locker room. Yes the salary is high, but the Bills have plenty of cap space this year and tons next year. The team wouldn’t have to use a high pick on a defensive tackle and they can draft one later with it being an extremely deep defensive line class.

This move makes a ton of sense and I would be all for it.
