The Buffalo Bills made a lot of moves at the start of free agency in 2019 and will be looking toward the NFL Draft to get even better.
Oh how we all love offseason grades.
Kidding aside, Buffalo Bills fans can actually enjoy offseason articles in 2019 as the team has had some success since the new league year began last month.
The Bills made plenty of additions on offense and even added a former first-round pick on defense. It is hard to find any negatives with the moves other than the fact the team didn’t add a star player.
But that is often the case in Buffalo.
FanSided’s Joe Soriano went through every team and handed out grades for free agency up to this point. He gave the Bills a nice grade of “B+.”
From the article:
"Brown may be the only possible star in the Bills offense out of all these signings, but Buffalo legitimately added seven starting players as a whole. The philosophy here seems to be sign quality free agents to fill the roster and then go for the impact players in the draft."
The Bills essentially added a whole new offensive line, including tight ends. Then there were the outside additions of John Brown and Cole Beasley, followed by Frank Gore in the backfield.
It is fun to see Brandon Beane get creative in how he surrounds Josh Allen. And this is all before the draft even takes place. We may not be focusing on the free agents as much in a few months if the draft class is great.
My favorite thing about the free agents brought to town is the experience that comes with them. The Bills will be a team filled with plenty of young players from the 2018 draft class and from this year’s class. Having that mix of young and veteran talent should help avoid any unnecessary mistakes or setbacks that could happen to a team lacking experience.
The grade of “B+” is a fair one in my opinion. What do you think of the grade?
