4. Jay Ajayi

I traded for Jay Ajayi in my dynasty fantasy football league last year and was excited. Then he went down with a season-ending ACL injury in early October.

That injury is alarming, but Ajayi has only been in the league for four years. And given this injury heals fully, he doesn’t have the overall wear and tear on his body that he would have if he played all last season.

2016 was his best season when he was still a member of the Miami Dolphins. Ajayi ran for 1,272 yards and eight touchdowns. His numbers went down a bit in 2017, and of course he didn’t get much time on the field in 2018.

The reason Ajayi could be a good target is because he won’t be making too much money in 2019. He may be looking to sign a one or two-year deal so he can prove he is a top back in order to get that major money later on. Spotrac has his projected annual value at $3.6 million.

I doubt any team will offer any major guaranteed money to Ajayi in 2019, so the Bills could bring him in for a year to see if he is a good fit. He will only be 26 this season and could be brought in even if McCoy isn’t let go.

The worst thing that could happen is the Bills don’t like what they see and cut Ajayi. Having him on a cheap deal allows for flexibility, especially when the potential is so high.
