Buffalo Bills fans sent off Kyle Williams with a lot of love and support. He took that to heart and is not changing his mind about retirement.

Kyle Williams made it clear last month that he was finally hanging up his cleats after a great career with the Buffalo Bills.

Williams is currently gearing up to play in the Pro Bowl, which will serve as his final NFL game. Then off he goes into retirement.

It was always possible that Williams could change his mind and make a heroic return in 2019. That would be a bit awkward, but no one would be upset about getting a top defensive lineman back for another year.

Williams shot down that possibility today:

This is not a shock but there have been plenty of athletes who don’t go quietly into retirement. After so many years of taking a beating on the field, this is for the best.

He also got an amazing send-off in Buffalo. The team whooped the Miami Dolphins back in Week 17. It was such a bad beating that Adam Gase got fired, only to return to the AFC East looking like he saw a ghost. What a weird press conference that was.

Leaving as a Pro Bowler is a great way to retire and is much better than some players who leave without any fanfare. Williams is lucky and I’m sure he knows that.

The confirmation that he is still indeed retiring should have Bills fans tuning in on Sunday to see what Williams does in his final game. Maybe he will pick up one final sack or even score a touchdown on offense.

Next. An interesting tweet from Adam Schefter. dark

Either way, it will be a fitting way to leave the league after such a great career.
