Buffalo Bills legend Jim Kelly will be at the Pro Bowl in Orlando in a few weeks to serve as an honorary captain for the AFC squad.

Back in December it was announced that Buffalo Bills legend Jim Kelly was chosen to be a captain for the AFC team at the 2019 Pro Bowl.

But recently, a full press release came out sharing the full details of the coaching staffs and the captains.

Having Kelly as a Legends Captain is a great move by the NFL and while it may not get more people to watch, it will at least be cool for the players to meet some of the greats of the game. Some great speeches could be in order.

Kelly appeared in five Pro Bowls as a player and should have been in a few more, but I digress. Although five appearances is still a lot.

Since we are talking about Kelly, his ongoing fight against cancer is something to keep an eye on. Here is the latest update.

Let’s hope the July results repeat here in January as well.

I have written multiple times here on the site about how Kelly is such a rare individual. He adopted Buffalo as his home and it remains easy for fans in the city to rally around him as he continues his fight.

The man deserves to be honored by both the team and the league so it is fitting he gets to spend time with the best players in the NFL down in Orlando. It also counts as a free vacation for him and his family.

Bills fans who do watch the Pro Bowl will be tuning in to see Kyle Williams play in his final NFL game. But Kelly’s role should provide some additional entertainment and inspiration throughout the game.
