Buffalo Bills reportedly move on from another offensive coach
The Buffalo Bills began 2019 by firing the offensive line coach. The team reportedly made another move regarding the offense on Wednesday.
Buffalo Bills fans don’t have to worry about a change at head coach this offseason.
That doesn’t mean other changes aren’t being made.
The Bills fired offensive line coach Juan Castillo to start the new year, and have reportedly followed up with another move.
This tweet from SiriusXM’s Alex Marvez broke the news earlier today:
This was later confirmed by ESPN’s Mike Rodak.
There you have it. Terry Robiskie spent one year in Buffalo and will be elsewhere next season. As Rodak pointed out, the turnover at the position is shockingly high.
This is another move that makes me wonder how much blame should fall on the coach. Robiskie entered the year with Kelvin Benjamin as the top guy in the position group. I’m not sure if many coaches could have made Benjamin a true number one receiver.
But as with Castillo, there must have been some concerns that led to this decision. McDermott wouldn’t fire a coach just for fun.
Zay Jones ended the season as the leading receiver with 652 yards on 56 receptions. That also came on 102 targets. Yikes.
Robert Foster was second in yards with 541 on 27 receptions.
The overall numbers are so bad that change was likely seen as the best option. Even if someone appears to be doing the right thing, it is tough to go with someone leading a failing group, especially when your own job is on the line every single day. McDermott has to make moves both to better the team and to protect himself at the same time.
I expect even more moves to come since these first two happened so fast. Does anyone have any guesses as to who may be next to go?
