The Buffalo Bills ended the 2018 season on a positive note and the team rose up a bit in the final power rankings of the year.
Last week I declared that those power rankings were the final ones of the 2018 season.
Alas, the first postseason edition counts as the final rankings for the regular season as well. So there is one final set of rankings for Buffalo Bills fans to consider.
For most of the season I have been going off the ESPN.com and NFL.com power rankings. ESPN.com has not been too favorable to the Bills, while NFL.com tends to go more up and down based on the result of the previous Sunday.
That continues in this final week as ESPN.com has the Bills at No. 27 overall. That is only one spot up from last week, but is still a fair ranking considering where the Bills finished in the final league standings.
To prove the point of how power rankings aren’t an exact science in any sense, the rankings at NFL.com have the Bills all the way up at No. 18! That is up two spots from a week ago as the sixth win of the season propelled the Bills into the top 18 at the end of the year.
So there you have it. The Bills are either near the bottom of the NFL, or are right up there with the playoff teams. A great way for the power rankings to come to a close in what was an up and down season.
The team is in the offseason with a ton of cap space and a lot of picks as well. 2018 was all about development. 2019 will be about the developing players taking that next step, hopefully being aided by some top-level free agent signings.
