Buffalo Bills fans haven’t seen much from LeSean McCoy in 2018. That doesn’t necessarily mean he can’t turn things around next year.

If someone had told me that LeSean McCoy wouldn’t lead the Buffalo Bills in rushing in 2018, I would have assumed a few scenarios.

Maybe it would be an injury that kept him out all year, or a truly remarkable season from Chris Ivory. Not quite.

McCoy is simply having a bad year while Josh Allen has picked up some of the slack in the running game.

That begs the question of whether the team wants to move on from McCoy and continue the rebuild at the running back position.

Comments from Sean McDermott made on Wednesday seem to indicate otherwise, but we know it would be rare for a coach to offer up anything other than support for a player during the season. Especially one with McCoy’s status as an all-time great.

I don’t think the Bills will actively try to trade McCoy this offseason. If any trade were to happen, it would likely come next season if the team has found a new number one back. Until then, he can be kept around as a respected veteran who can help Josh Allen and the entire offense in 2019.

He may even have a great season and make 2018 look like a giant fluke. It’s not like he had a ton of help in front of him this year.

We look at McCoy and more in today’s edition of The Morning Charge.

The latest mock draft from NFL Spin Zone sees the Bills looking to upgrade the wide receiver position. It is hard to argue with such a decision if it comes to be a reality.
