The Buffalo Bills are doing the smart thing by cutting their losses at wide receiver and going young. That and more in today’s Morning Charge.

Buffalo Bills fans had to sit in frustration every single time Kelvin Benjamin took the field.

The failed potential was on full display and it quickly became clear that Benjamin was never going to be a number one receiver in Buffalo.

That led to him, and Andre Holmes, being let go earlier this week. That leaves the team with a very young group at wide receiver, which is a good thing at this stage of Brandon Beane’s rebuild.

Players like Zay Jones, Isaiah McKenzie, Robert Foster and hopefully Ray-Ray McCloud will get more playing time now that Benjamin and Holmes are gone. Considering the playoffs are out of reach, developing young players should be the sole focus over the final four games.

This extra playing time will allow the young receivers to work directly with Josh Allen, and give Beane and Sean McDermott a sense of who works the best with the rookie quarterback.

We take a look at this and more in a Friday edition of The Morning Charge. Only two more days until more football!

Buffalo Bills News:

Bills: Team growing confident in young receivers (BuffaLowDown, Mike Distefano)

Benjamin and Holmes are gone. Terrelle Pryor couldn’t stick around long enough for anyone to remember he was on the team. Now it is up to the young receivers to prove they belong on the roster in 2019.

Bills settled in as favorites in Week 14 matchup against the Jets (BuffaLowDown, Steven Kubitza)

The Bills may be 4-8, but one of those wins came over the New York Jets. The Jets are in town this weekend and have lost six straight. That means the Bills are the favorites in the betting world. Are you confident enough to put some money down on the Bills?

Report: Chiefs signing Kelvin Benjamin (PFT, Charean Williams)

It appears Benjamin has landed himself in quite the nice situation. It remains to be seen if he will receive much playing time, or if he is being brought in for a glorified tryout.

Is Bills OC Brian Daboll a candidate for Green Bay Packers head coaching job? (NYup.com, Ryan Talbot)

Brian Daboll is accomplished in the football world, but I’m not sure if he will be getting a head coaching gig next season.

Still, an interesting article to check out.
