The Buffalo Bills are back in action this Sunday in what is shaping up to be a much closer game on the betting lines than previously expected.
It’s the playoff rematch we have all been waiting for. The 3-7 Buffalo Bills return home to take on the 3-7 Jacksonville Jaguars. Just as we all expected.
Things have not gone as planned for both teams this season. The Bills have shuffled through four quarterbacks while the Jaguars continue to stick with Blake Bortles and continue to lose.
But there should be some extra motivation for both teams on Sunday. The Bills want to avenge last year’s loss and the Jaguars want to avoid sliding further into the basement of the standings.
This game is also an interesting one on the betting lines. The Jaguars come in as favorites at -3, which is one of the closer spreads for the Bills on the season.
The game is being played in Buffalo, where the Bills only have one win on the season. But the Jaguars only have one road win, so it balances out.
The main difference is that the Bills had an extra week of preparation fresh off a blowout win over the New York Jets. The Jaguars blew what should have been a comfortable victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday. That came after a three-point loss to the Indianapolis Colts in what has been a season of disappointment for the Jaguars.
Josh Allen serves as a major unknown in this game. He was showing flashes of success before he got injured, but it may take some time to get back up to speed. And this Jaguars defense is still stacked with talent, even if the offense is letting them down every week.
Bias aside, I am comfortable betting on the Bills in this one. They are at home and have plenty of confidence after a big win over the Jets. Allen led the team to two victories and nearly a third before he got injured in Houston.
Last week showed Bills fans what is possible with competent quarterback play. As for the Jaguars, they have the opposite of that and it will reach a breaking point with a loss in Buffalo.
