Buffalo Bills land top defensive prospect in CBS Sports mock draft
The Buffalo Bills remain at the bottom of the standings and have the ability to land a top prospect in the 2019 NFL Draft.
A Buffalo Bills bye week is a perfect time to take a look at some more mock drafts.
The Bills being in the bottom of the NFL standings through 10 games means the team is still projected to land a top prospect in the draft.
The latest mock draft from CBS Sports has the Bills drafting fifth overall and selecting Houston’s Ed Oliver, a defensive tackle.
Here is what the mock says about Oliver:
"There could be some injury concerns with Oliver’s knee, but if Kyle Williams retires, the Bills will have some depth issues at defensive tackle, especially with Harrison Phillips being more of a run-stopping specialist than a quick, gap-penetrator. If healthy, Oliver has Aaron Donald-type athleticism and would strengthen one of the NFL’s best defenses."
As seen above, there are some injury concerns. Oliver was also in the news last night after he got in a fight with his coach on the sidelines. Oliver wasn’t playing in the game and decided to wear a coat worn by players. This was apparently a problem and created an unnecessary fight.
Some college coaches may take themselves a bit too seriously.
That situation seems to have resolved itself and Oliver remains a top prospect in the draft.
He has been racking up awards during his time at Houston and won the Outland Trophy in 2017, which is awarded to the best interior lineman in the nation.
Some fans may question why such a dominant prospect isn’t at a bigger school, but Oliver turned down major offers to stay near home.
His fit with the Bills make sense due to the fact Kyle Williams is on his way out. The team already has great talent in the secondary and the linebackers are led by both Matt Milano and Tremaine Edmunds. Getting a stud up front would only benefit the rest of the defense.
